Movie Review/Response: 2012

So I found myself stuck in an irritating situation a few weeks ago. I needed to do a movie review for my school newspaper, but there was only one new release at the time: 2012.

Now I had seen the previews and wasn't really impressed. It looked like they were ripping off The Day After Tomorrow. Come to find out, Roland Emmerich, directed 2012, The Day After Tomorrow, AND Independence Day!

It is bad to rip off other people's movies, but it is worse when you rip off your own and fail to even maintain the same quality of work.

As you probably know, 2012 is about the world coming to an end. While the concept seemed kind of interesting, the plot line was cliche and at times ridiculous. John Cusack plays an unappreciated author who is divorced from the mother of his two odd children, Amanda Peet. Of course, she is already remarried to another man who is more successful and has a better relationship with the kids than Cusack.

The basis of the story is that the world is starting to fall apart and some random scientist try to inform the White House of this matter. Deja Vu: the predictions for the disaster are way off and the world is soon faced with their lives falling beneath hot lava, large craters, and tidal waves of water. But the government didn't want to send the people into a public by informing them beforehand. Thank you, U.S. government, glad to know my tax dollars are worth something.

While at times I could look past the plot, it was the CGI that caused me the most issues. WHO IN THE FUCK CREATED THOSE DISASTER SCENES!? It looked like some first year graphic design student designed it. After doing 2 disaster movies and have spent around $260 million on this movie, you would think the director would have come out with something better.

Hell.....the robot aliens in the Transformers movies made me believe they were more than those retarded scenes in 2012.

I might be being a little harsh and I could have forgiven the movie for large portions of it, but I could not get over the fact that it was 2 hours and 38 minutes long!

If you really liked The Day After Tomorrow (but with bad CGI), then you will like this movie. I liked that movie too, but if I had to do it again.........I would have just got the bootleg of 2012 (for half the price) and kept most of my Sunday afternoon.

I'm just sayin':-)

God, Homosexuality, Rape, and Murder

So I recently received two new comments on a video I have on YouTube. I saw these messages after, I got a loooooooooooong detailed message in my inbox about homosexuality and God allegedly hating gays. Now I respect your opinion as long as you don't insult me and you TRY to be intelligent about it. The message I got was more intelligent than the actual comment one of the users posted. Both comments stated the most ridiculous comparisons. First, they stated that there was no such thing as "bi-curious" or "bi-sexual". Fine, I can understand that, for I know a lot of people don't think there is such a thing. However, they went on to compare homosexuality and bi-curiosity to violent crimes such as murder and rape. What the fuck is wrong with you!?

To compare a victimless act to horrendous crimes is disgusting. As a Christian, I know that homosexuality is considered wrong. However, I have plenty of friends who are homosexual. God tells us to love one another, from what I do know about the Bible it doesn't say "make an exception for gays and hate them."

A sin is a sin, but I don't believe you can evaluate all sins on the same scale. I was watching "Lock Up" the other day, and a man who was on death row had found God along with another who was serving 25 years to life. No offense, sometimes I am a bit skeptical about jailbird preachers, but I do believe it is possible to find God and repent despite your horrible actions. However, these two inmates said the dumbest things. The death row inmate said that God viewed stealing a cracker as the same level of sinning to taking a human life. Like I said, I get that a sin is a sin, but I find it hard to believe that God would evaluate both sins equally.

The second inmate said that the family he murdered did not die in vain, because he found God in prison and was getting his act together. I will let you think on that one, cause I was revolted by that dumb ass statement.

People view life differently as well as Christianity. But some people seem to hide behind religion and using it as their shield to justify their stupidity and inhumane actions.

I believe God is forgiving, but I'm not going to pretend that I know what God will think come my judgment day or what he will do to a homosexual and a serial killer. I wish some people would stop trying to read into God's psyche and just live THEIR life they way they believe is morally right.

What do you think?
Check out the video and read the comments (feel free to leave a comment).

Rogaine at 21!?

Hey ya'll! So if you have seen my newest YouTube video, you have learned my secret. I use Rogaine! So I wanted to provide ya'll with some information.

I curently have a bald patch on the nape of my neck. While I am unsure of the exact reason it is there, I have quite a few theories:

-Damage from home relaxer
-A professional hairdresser who left the relaxer on too long

While I do have a dominate place of baldness, I do have other areas that have thinned out. I have tried Rogaine before but was really about taking it every day. This time around, I have been really good about taking it twice a day, every like the box instructs. Whilte they tell you that it may be a while before you see noticeable growth, about two months in I already see a difference. I'm sure there are other factors, but I think Rogaine is a dominating factor. Check out my video to see where my starting point was:

Eventually, I will show you where I am in a few months.

So what is Minoxidil?

According to Wikipedia:
Minoxidil (trade names Rogaine and Regaine) is a vasodilator medication known for its ability to slow or stop hair loss and promote hair regrowth. It is available over the counter for treatment of androgenic alopecia, among other baldness treatments, but measurable changes disappear within months after discontinuation of treatment.

Minoxidil was first used exclusively as an oral drug (trade name Loniten) to treat high blood pressure. It was, however, discovered to have an interesting side-effect: the ability to reverse or slow down the balding process. Upjohn Corporation produced a topical solution that contained 2% minoxidil to be used to treat baldness and hair loss, under the brand name Rogaine in the United States and Canada, and Regaine in Europe and the Asia-Pacific. Treatments usually include a 5% concentration solution that is designed for men, whereas the 2% concentration solutions are designed for women. The patent on minoxidil expired on February 13, 1996.[1]

In 2007 a new foam-based formulation of 5% minoxidil was shown to be as effective as the liquid-based treatment for male pattern baldness.[2]

As a drug to combat hair loss, the most common side effect is itchy scalp. Alcohol present in topical preparations may dry the scalp, resulting in dandruff.[6] Side-effects of oral minoxidil may include swelling of the face and extremities, rapid and irregular heartbeat, lightheadedness, cardiac lesions, and focal necrosis of the papillary muscle and subendocardial areas of the left ventricle.[7] There have been cases of allergic reactions to minoxidil or the non-active ingredient propylene glycol, which is found in some forms of topical Rogaine.

Ironically, hair loss is a common side-effect of minoxidil treatment.[8]. Manufacturers note minoxidil induced hair loss is a common side effect and describe the process as 'shedding'. Although this phenomena demonstrates minoxidil is indeed affecting hair follicles, manufacturers offer no guarantee the new hair loss will be replaced with hair growth.

Minoxidil products involve contact with hair strands, which may cause problems with hair styling since minoxidil must be in an alcohol solution. To keep the minoxidil solution from affecting normal hair styling applications, it can be washed out after at least 40 minutes, although this will decrease the hair regrowth effect. For maximum effect, the solution should be in contact with the scalp for four hours before being washed out. If the solution is not a problem, hair styling devices can be used as soon as the minoxidil solution has dried.

Minoxidil solutions are sold under many brand names. Many high priced as well as generic brands of minoxidil regrowth solutions exist and do not differ in their active ingredient or concentration (except differing versions within each brand).

So far I have yet to see a negative side to the product. When I get my hair relaxed, I apply Rogaine hours before I get the relaxer. I usually wait about 48 hours before I start reusing the product again.

Check out Rogaine's website if you would like more information.

Two Workout Days

So today is my second day in a row working out. I walked 30 minutes on the treadmill on steep incline. Then I did some weights on my arms. Lastly, I played volleyball.

Remember stretching is really important. Everyone seems to have a different opinion on stretching. Some prefer before, but I prefer to stretch after my workouts.

Today I ate cherrios and sushi with shrimp (which is not a healthy option). Really, today was not a good food day because I was to stressed to eat a third meal.

Keep in mind how many calories you take in vs. how much you burn.

Wish you luck with your diets and workouts.

Thanx for reading.

Wake Up Call!

So today, I went to California Pizza Kitchen with my family. I knew it was going to be a bad idea when the only thing that I wanted was pasta and my dad order spinach and artichoke dip. I also drank, like, 4 glasses of that rasberry lemonade. I had originally planned to take part of my pasta home, but I saw my cousin (who is older and 40lbs lighter) finish of her bowl of pasta. I figured it would be okay if I went ahead and finished mine.

My stomach felt HUGE! So I came home and got on the scale to see what the damage of this meal and this whole summer has been on my wasteline. I am the same weight I am when I started this summer. But sadly that is still OVERWEIGHT! I weigh 193:-(

So time to get this diet shit in high gear...

Diet Start!

Tomorrow begins my major rush to lose about 30 pounds by December. I know I said I would start my "journey" about a week ago, but of course stuff came up. When I return back to Georgia, I plan to do Slimquick's Cleanse and go hard with the working out. But while I am stuck in a hotel in Oklahoma, I will just try to do the treadmill and lay off all the bread.

Thanx for reading and I hope u follow my blog and check me out on YouTube!

Have a great night!

Wrong Start

So today was a disappointing day and I won't count this as my starting point for my weightloss journey. But I wanted to share with you my errors....

So I went to bed at 7 this morning! Yes, 7am! I hung out with a old friend and was to lazy to drive home but not in the mood for any of his attempts of hanky panky (lol). So we just chilled and talked until he tried to get me to sleep over then I decided to bounce.

I woke up around 12 something and ate a bowl of Cheerios. Ate it with 2% milk. So the waking up late part wasn't a good start, but I thought eating only one bowl was somewhat of a reprieve. So I got worse as the day progressed:-(

I went to the mall and ate a footlong meatball marinara sub with baked barbeque chips and a medium drink (which nowadays is large). To end the night, I ate an Arby's turkey and swiss sandwich with curly fries and 4 mozz cheese sticks.

I know, I know.
I did everything against doing well on starting my weightloss, but hopefully it will get better. Tomorrow I plan to workout and we will see what happens when I finally weigh myself for the first time in months.

Thanx for checkin' me out, stay tuned;-)

Weight Loss Tracking

So I am trying to lose weight before my "friend" returns back from Iraq. I am going to post my weight loss journey on here along with my other posts. From the things I've ate to workouts, all will be shared. This is my last year of undergrad (hopefully) and I want to be in shape by graduation as well as get my hair to be more healthy (yes, working out helps promote hair growth). So follow me on this LOOOOOOOOOOOONG journey. I'm like many women, trying to balance every day stresses of life (3 jobs, full-time student, etc) and be able to squeeze into my jeans in the morning.

Check out my youtube channel to see the visuals of my weightloss journey:

China Glaze Lover on a Budget

So I found this site that sales great nail polishes for low prices. Check out video for my experience:

They have China Glaze for as low as $2.68 (a few are a bit more). Here is the site:

Now if you want a cheaper nail polish and don't want to order offline, I suggest Pure Ice or Milani. Both are great nail polishes and don't easily chip. Milani you can get from a drugstore or a mom/pop beauty supply (anywhere that sales Milani cosmetics). Pure Ice is made by Bari Cosmetics but you can get them at Walmart for $2. (Milani prices vary)

Here is the Bari Cosmetics website, but I don't suggest you buy from the site because the nail polishes are more than 6 dollars (more than China Glaze at Sally's Beauty Supply). Just check out the colors if you are curious.

FYI......China Glaze is the sister company to OPI.

Check it out and follow my blog! MUAH!

Weightloss Tips

Weight loss tips that don't involve a pill, excercise, or counting calories (at least not really)

-Don’t eat while watching television: t.v. viewing can make you take in 40% more calories than you normally would

-Do something that will distract you when a craving hits: call a friend, listen to music, whatever will distract you for five minutes (the length of time a craving typically lasts)

-Eat a carb/protein rich breakfast. It will keep blood-sugar levels steady and hunger pangs at bay.

-Eating early in the day keeps us from "starvation eating" later on. But it also jump-starts your metabolism. When you don't eat breakfast, you're actually fasting for 15 to 20 hours, so you're not producing the enzymes needed to metabolize fat to lose weight.

Ask yourself....
-Am I hungry? (If unsure, wait 20 minutes and ask yourself again)
-When was the last time I ate? (If it's less than three hours, it may not be real hunger)
-Could a small snack tide me over until the next meal? (Have ready-to-eat fruits or vegetables on hand for this)

-Snacking between meals is okay. But do it smartly. Satisfying a craving with HEALTHY grubbing is better than binge eating on junk-food
-stick of string cheese
-tablespoon of peanut butter on a piece of fruit
-handful of nuts

-Cut back on the alcohol. They contain hundreds of calories that only increase your hunger. If you need a drink, stick with a glass of wine, light bear or vodka. These drinks usually have about 100 calories per serving.

-Eat fruit twice a day. Fruit has no fat and mostly water. It’s fill you up while leaving less room for you stomach. Plus contains healthy fiber (good for cleaning out your digestive system)

-Get plenty of sleep. Well rested people are less prone to snacking out of fatigue or stress.

-If you drink whole milk, switch to 2% milk. I did it awhile back, there is no drastic difference in taste (in my opinion). Soon whole milk will seem to thick, well it did for me;-)

Summer Flashbacks

It is summer time and in my small (school) town it is slower than usual. Most of the students have gone back home, and the days become repetitive. But it is funny how boredom brings back the past and brings forth dumbasses.

Every summer since I graduated high school, it seems like ex-boyfriends and old hookups suddenly remember my number. Guys who I may not have spoken to in years, they cheated on me, I dumped them (in the harshes way possible), or I thought were dead.

But it is not the fact that they randomly call or text (or send me facebook/myspace messages), it is the fact that they all of a sudden they feel the need to confess their love for me or they want to get back together. The worst ones are the guys I knew very little about (never dated or did anything with them) want to suddenly hangout.

That annoys me! Like we NEVER hungout before and now you want to all of a sudden when the town is empty? Give me a break! Just say you want to fuck, it won't happen but I will respect you a little for being honest.

The one thing good that comes from school starting is all the new prey (and old hoes) for these triflin', lying males. That way I can find a guy who wants me for me AND my coochie. LOL!

But seriously.......there is a reason you didn't make it to someone's present and why you never hung out in the past.

Condoms and a School of Hoes

So the college I go to has a bit of a high STD rate.........LOVE IT!

But seriously, it seems like this simple fact has become common knowledge amongst the students. However, everytime I check my facebook, another girl is rockin' that 9 month bump. To add to it, most of them are single.

Now, if STDs don't scare you why not a young pregnacy? I mean damn.....if you aren't on birth control pills, use a fuckin' condom. Hell, Trojan has made that new ecstasy condom and they (almost) feel like nothing is there.

I ain't knockin' girls who have babies young, but a lot of them are the ones who are the most sheltered or just plain stupid.

I have a few friends that have had kids since college started and have transitioned into adulthood and handled their business. I can respect that, but I can't get with the dumbasses who party and drink and leave their kids with ANYONE who will watch them.

O is what it is. This school has too many diseased dicks and coochies running around for me for me not to have a dude strap up (even if I am on the pill).
